About the College

The Academy of General Education, Manipal Established Manipal College of Education, through the Teaching Fraternity and Education Trust in July 1965. In 1986 the Management of the college was transferred to Dr. T. M. A. Pai Foundation, Manipal, a Konkani linguistic minority institution established to preserve and propagate Konkani language and culture.

From its inception till 1976 the college was housed in the building of Udupi Law college near Taluk Office. In 1976 the college was shifted to the present campus. The new building was declared open by Prof. S. Nurul Hassan the Minister for Education, Govt. of India. Till 1980 the college was affiliated to Mysore University. In the year 1980 the college came under the umbrella of Mangalore University.

Manipal college of Education as this college formerly known was renamed as Dr. T. M. A. Pai College of Education in 1982 to commemorate the fond memory of Dr. T. M. A. Pai, the founder patron of the college.

The college through it’s concerted efforts and consistent quality achievements is considered as one of the outstanding colleges of education in Karnataka. The college is permanently affiliated to Mangalore University and recognized by NCTE, New Delhi. The college is assessed and accredited by NAAC with B++ Grade.
