About University

The Prakasam District with headquarters Ongole, named after the late Chief Minister of Andhra State, Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu. It is one of the backward districts of Andhra Pradesh that is both in the sphere of economy and the field of higher education. It is with this background, Acharya Nagarjuna University Post-Graduation Centre, Ongole has been established in the year 1993, and it is upgraded to Andhra Kesari University in memory of late Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu. Andhra Pradesh Government has established this University with the effect from 11-01-2022 (Notification No. 36 Dated: 11.01.2022) by the Act No. 21 of 2021 (Notification No. 21 Dated: 20.12.2022) of the State Legislative of Andhra Pradesh as a State University and is empowered to award degrees as specified by the UGC under Section 22 of the UGC Act. 1956 and A.P. University Act at its own departments. The University College has offering 9 Post- Graduate Courses and one Under Graduation Programme viz., M.A. History, M.A. Economics, Master of Social Work (M.S.W.), Master of Education (M.Ed.), M.Com., M.B.A., M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Statistics, Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.), and Bachelor of Physical Education (B.P.Ed.).

In addition to above courses seven new courses are to introduced from the academic year 2023-24 onwards, those are M.Sc. Aquaculture, M.Sc. Organic Chemistry, M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry, M.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. Environmental Science & Technology, M.A. English & M.A. Telugu. Each department has eligible guides to pursue research activities leading to Ph.D. programme.

Anji Reddy Mareddy, Professor of Environmental Sciences & Technology, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad with 34 years of experience in teaching, research, and Consultancy who belongs to Prakasam District is appointed as founder Vice-Chancellor on 09-02-2023.

B. Hari Babu, Department of Chemistry, Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur with 20 years of experience in Teaching and Research is appointed as founder Registrar on 16.03.2023.

Prof D V R Murthy was Dean (Examinations), Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Earlier, Prof Murthy was head of the department of journalism and mass communication for three terms. He was Chairman, Board of studies in the same department. He was in-charge head of the department, foreign languages, and also Director, Japan Information and Study Centre, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. Also, he held the position of Director-media relations in AU. Prof Murthy has put in more than 30 years of service in Andhra University. Prof Murthy started his career as a journalist working in English dailies for five years. He published 18 books, and 55 research articles in peer reviewed national and international journals. He guided 28 Ph.Ds. in political communication, development journalism, adolescents and media, family communication and Pragmatics. He was also a member of many universities for designing course curriculum. He delivered lectures in various organizations on media issues. He visited UK on Charles Wallace fellowship for his post-doctoral work on the British newspapers in 2002. He visited Japan under Sakura Science Plan Scholarship in 2017 and 2018. He visited UK, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam on various assignments.

Admission
