About the College

Khagarijan College, located in the South Eastern part of Nagaon Town & just one kilometre away from Nagaon Circuit House, was established in September 12, 1972. The College was established by a few leading social activists to fulfil the aspirations of the multicultural-marginalized communities with poor social-economic background, living in the region stretching the area from Dakshinpat, Borkola, Dakorghat, Nonoi, Kathiatoli to Karbianglong. The main aim behind the establishment of the Institution was to nurture the socio-economically disadvantage rural youth. It was established with a single stream i.e. Arts and affiliated to the Guwahati University. The College received UGC recognition under Section 2(f) and 12 (B) if UGC Act, 1965, in the year 12.06.2007. Later on, the College was accredited by NAAC for its 1st Cycle in 2004 with C grade and in the 2nd Cycle in 2017 with B grade. In 2021, the College has inherits a rich legacy of 50 years of existence in providing quality education. Pursuit of knowledge has all along been the avowed objectives of the institution and it has justified its existence despite a lot of obstacles. Besides dissemination of knowledge, the College tries to generate new values, relevant to the society. Though the College started with only one stream but after its 2nd Cycle of NAAC assessment it opens Commerce Stream, BCA & PGDCA under Gauhati University on self-finance mode from 2020. Simultaneously, the College is offering certificate courses on different programme. Presently, the college is offering 14 Under Graduate Programme, 01 Post-Graduate Programme in Assamese & 01 Post Graduate Diploma Course. The College is a co-educational institution of higher education with its present student strength is 1072. The College has a total of 27 permanent/full time faculty members and 05 numbers of permanent non-teaching staff.

College Campus
The Khagarijan College is a renowned higher education institution, located in the South Eastern Part of Nagaon Town. The college is extended over 3.25 acres of land and stands on the river bank of Morikolong River. The college consists of many buildings viz., Administrative Building, (Office Room, Principal Chamber, Teachers’ Common Room, Conference Hall, Computer Lab etc.), Old Building, (with examination control room, alumni office, departments and IQAC office etc.), New Building, (Student Union Office, Department of History and Classrooms, Department of Education & Education Lab), M.A. Building (Central Library, Department of Assamese etc.), Girls Hostel, Sports Hostel, Canteen, Gymnasium etc.. Besides, the buildings, the college has an open area covered with green grass, garden and different green trees around the campus. In fine, the college campus offers a very attractive and congenial atmosphere for teaching-learning.
