About the School

St. Joseph’s Convent was founded in 1875 by the Indian Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery as per provisions of the Constitution of India Part III Article 30 (i). It is administered by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Convent, Nagpur in accordance with general rules governing the above Congregation. It is an English Medium Higher Secondary School for girls. It conducts classes from Primary to Higher Secondary Level. The School is lovingly dedicated to St. Joseph, the foster father of Jesus Christ, with its motto ‘Virtue Alone Ennobles’ and aims at forming a noble character through the practice of virtues. According to the Holy Scriptures, St. JOSEPH was a JUST man. He is called JUST, on account of having all virtues to a perfect degree. God has found in St. Joseph, a man, after His own heart, to whom He could commit securely, His heart’s closest and most sacred secret. Honouring St. Joseph as the Patron Saint of the School, every Josephite student and teacher, is asked to inculcate in her life, some of the virtues of St. Joseph, such as his availability, simplicity, hospitality, obedience, cheerfulness purity, courage, faith and humble loving service.

Joseph is a figure in the Gospels, the husband of Mary In Roman Catholic, Eastern
Orthodox and Anglican Christian traditions, he is regarded as Saint Joseph.

Joseph was a compassionate caring man. When he discovered Mary was pregnant after they had been betrothed, he knew the child was not his but was unaware that she was carrying the Son of God. He planned to divorce Mary according to the law but he was concerned for her suffering and safety. He knew that women accused to adultery could be stoned to death, so he decided to divorce her quietly and not expose her to shame or cruelty…
