About the School

Founded in 1996, by the Gyan Mandir Society in the heart of South Delhi, THE INDIAN SCHOOL prepares students for the Central Board of Secondary Education. The beautiful building with its ample grounds is equipped with naturally well-lit and ventilated classrooms providing an ideal setting for academic rigour and an all – round personality development. We have state-of-the-art labs for Computers, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & Psychology. Specialized teaching rooms are alloted for Environment and Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship and Business Studies, Fashion Technology, a computerised Teachers’ Resource Centre is also available to keep pace with the multi-learning methods of the future, and to develop the full potential of every child. Our classrooms are equipped with Smartboard technology whereby groups of students can communicate with school children across the world.

Our commitment to smart class technology is balanced by the teacher’s human touch.

Multimedia-linked smart boards, internet-based learning, subject laboratories and cross-curricular approaches are a part of our classrooms.

We have a department to take care of special needs. The school is inclusive, and child-centred and believes in providing equal opportunities to all children along with those with learning disabilities.

We encourage our children to think independently, to respect themselves and others, and to value excellence.

The Learning Centre with its enlarged library has a Resource Room with audio-visual, internet and photocopying facilities. It also houses the school archives and a Reading Room.

Similarly, The Arts Centre contains fully equipped Art, Music, Dance and Theatre Rooms. There is a spacious multipurpose auditorium on the ground floor for conferences, lectures, workshops, educational film shows, assemblies, power point presentations and teacher training programmes.

On Annual Days, the large playground at the back turns into a huge outdoor auditorium.

We affirm that parents are the chief educators of their children and we work with them as a team in preparing for life. Parents are invited to school events such as class assemblies, dance and musical events, sports days, art exhibitions and Annual days. Parents accompany students and teachers on evening excursions to the theatre, music concerts, and dance performances in the city.

Regular interactions are held between parents and teachers. Two school counsellors are also available for suggestions and advice; interactions are also held between parents and teachers.
