About the School

Eklavya Model Residential School Lawngtlai was established in the year 2020. The school is funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and implemented in the state of Mizoram through the Department of Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs, Government of Mizoram.

The school began its journey with a modest team of 16 staff members, including a Principal, 6 teaching staff, 2 hostel wardens, 1 medical attendant, and 6 supporting staff. At its inception, EMRS Lawngtlai offered classes from VI to VIII, with an intake of 30 students per class, aiming to provide quality residential education to tribal children.

EMRS Lawngtlai is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, with the affiliation number 2320100. Over the years, the school has grown steadily and is now home to over 210 students, from Class VI to Class XII supported by a dedicated team of 30 staff—comprising 14 teaching and 16 non-teaching staff, including a nurse, counselor, security personnel, and other essential support staff.

Catalyzing socio-economic development of the most underprivileged groups in India i.e. the Scheduled Tribes (STs), in a coordinated and a planned manner considering it as an effective instrument for their holistic empowerment.

Mission

Imparting quality education to ST children by establishment of Eklavya Model Residential Schools in order to enable them to avail high and professional educational courses and to get employment in various sectors. Ensuring them opportunities at par with Non-ST populations thereby providing impetus to the overall development of tribal population in the country.
