About the College

In 1893, the temple town of Udupi saw the dawn of an august institution by the name “Sri Anantheshwara Primary School” in the holy premises of Sri Anantheshwara Temple. The school was later shifted to the present premises on Vadiraja Road.

In 1943, His Holiness Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt offered to take charge of the management of the School. Subsequently the school was upgraded to higher primary status. The school, popularly known as Paniyadi School, met the needs of the common man by imparting quality education in Kannada Medium.

In 1993, the Vidyodaya Trust(R), headed by His Holiness Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji, took the responsibility of running the school.

In 1997, Sri Krishna Shishumandira, a nursery and Vidyodaya Vidyalaya, an English Medium School were started beginning with LKG, UKG and 1st Standard. Now Vidyodaya Public School offers classes from LKG to 10th Standard (ICSE Syllabus). With effect from the academic year 2007-08, Vidyodaya Pre-University College has been functioning to impart quality education at the Pre-University level.
