About the School

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Baksa, established in 2006, is one of the four schools in BTAD. The school campus covers an area of 76 Bigha (in assam measure). School is situated on National Sub highway at a distance of 6 km from National highway No 31 from the place Barama. It is a premier educational institution dedicated to providing high-quality education, particularly to students from rural and underserved areas. Initially, the school operated from a temporary site but later moved to its permanent campus, which boasts modern infrastructure designed to enhance the learning experience and support the overall development of students.
The academic block at JNV Baksa is well-equipped with specialized laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, providing students with the opportunity to engage in hands-on experiments and gain practical knowledge in these key subjects. In addition to these traditional facilities, the school features an Electronic Learning Centre (ELC), which is designed to integrate technology into the learning process. The ELC offers students access to digital learning resources, interactive lessons, and multimedia content that help make learning more engaging and effective, fostering digital literacy alongside traditional academics.
The school also provides a supportive living environment, with separate hostels for boys and girls. These hostels are well-maintained and offer a safe, secure, and comfortable space for students to study, rest, and interact with their peers. The mess facility at JNV Baksa ensures that students receive nutritious, balanced meals, prepared in a hygienic environment, to meet the dietary needs of growing children.
To ensure the smooth functioning of the school, JNV Baksa has well-maintained staff quarters, allowing teachers and staff members to focus on their educational duties without concerns about accommodation. The campus also includes the principal’s quarter and a guest house, providing comfortable accommodation for visiting dignitaries, inspectors, and other guests.
With its permanent site, modern facilities, and a focus on both academic excellence and personal growth, JNV Baksa is committed to providing an environment where students can thrive. The combination of traditional academic infrastructure, technological integration through the ELC, and comfortable living accommodations ensures that JNV Baksa remains a center of learning and holistic development for students.
The National Policy on Education-1986 envisaged setting up of residential schools, to be called Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, that would bring out the best of rural talent. It was felt that children with special talent or aptitude should be provided opportunities to progress at a faster pace by making good quality education available to them irrespective of their capacity to pay for it. Such education would enable students from rural areas to compete with their urban counterparts on an equal footing; seamlessly assimilating and intefrating them into the mainstream of the society.
The Navodaya Vidyalaya System which began as a unique experiment, is today unparalleled in the annals of school education in India and elsewhere. Its significance lies in the selection of talented rural children as the target group and the attempt to provide them quality education comparable to the best in a residential school system.
